The raspberry production area has decreased dramatically

The foreign trade balance of fresh and frozen raspberries was negative in 2022. Imports of fresh raspberries, mainly from Spain, increased by 15 percent to 391 tons, but exports were not significant. In the first five months of this year, the delivery of fresh raspberries decreased by 13 percent to 149.2 tons compared to the same period of the previous year, according to the market summary of the Agricultural Economics Institute (AKI), which was analyzed by Világgazdaság. Last year, the import of frozen raspberries increased by 26 percent to 1.71 thousand tons compared to fresh ones. The export of this product can already be measured, although it also decreased by 9 percent, falling to 592 tons in 2022 compared to the previous year. Raspberry cultivation is problematic not only in Hungary, but also in the EU, and its foreign trade balance is also negative at the level of the community.
