Consumption of salmon in Spain has surpassed hake for the first time, driven by the popularity of Asian dishes like poké, sushi, and sashimi. A survey by Ipsos found that 78% of consumers had consumed salmon in the last six months, with Madrid and the eastern region showing the highest consumption. Norwegian salmon is valued for its flavor, nutrition, and safety guarantees, and sales from Norway to Spain have seen a 12% increase in the first four months of 2023, reaching over 243 million euros.
