The Sejm has passed an amendment to the Act on supporting rural development, enabling the use of the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development to provide temporary financial support to farmers, micro-enterprises, and small and medium-sized enterprises affected by the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Specifically, pig production, especially piglet production, will be supported using remaining funds from the Rural Development Program for 2014-2020. The Agency for Restructuring and Modernization of Agriculture will distribute the aid, with a deadline for funding contracting set for March 31, 2023. The amendment also makes changes to the Income Tax Act to exempt agricultural advisory units from tax, effective the day following announcement, with certain regulations effective from January 1, 2023.
