China's increased purchase of chili to meet domestic demand has led to a significant growth in chili exports, contributing to the surge in vegetable and fruit exports. The export value of peppers in January 2021 reached $ 6.8 million, up 21.2% compared to the previous month and 67.2% compared to the same period last year. The export value of vegetables and roots group in the same month was $26.9 million, a 35.4% increase from the previous month and a 46.3% increase year-over-year. Additionally, the export value of fruits and nuts for January 2021 was $216.44 million, up 26.4% from the previous month and 4.1% year-over-year. The export value of fresh or frozen dragon fruit also saw a significant increase. Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports are expected to thrive in 2021, with the industry boosting exports to potential markets such as Egypt, Kuwait, Ukraine, and Senegal.
