Kazakhstan's Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparbayev held a meeting with Cengiz Şaban, a member of the Board of Directors of the Turkish holding company Cengiz Holding, reports the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture. According to the information, during the negotiations, the prospects for the development of the sugar industry, issues of attracting investments, and the implementation of joint projects in the field of deep processing of agricultural products were discussed. As noted by Aidarbek Saparbayev, the ministry is taking comprehensive measures aimed at reducing import dependency and transitioning to self-sufficiency. According to his data, Kazakhstan has 4 sugar factories, three of which process sugar beets with a total capacity of 870 thousand tons per year. Meanwhile, annual sugar consumption reaches 500 thousand tons, and domestic production from local raw materials covers only 14% of the need.
