The wheat harvest in the United Kingdom this year has increased by 7.3% to 11.96 million tons, according to the Ministry of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. The larger harvest is entirely due to the expansion of planted areas – by 9.1% to 1.7 million hectares, while the average wheat yields have decreased by 1.7% to 7.2 tons per hectare. However, British barley production has shrunk by 10% compared to 2024 to 6.37 million tons. For barley sown in the autumn of last year, the decline was 16% to 3.89 million tons, while spring barley saw a slight increase of 1.2% to 2.47 million tons.
