From January to August of 2022, Brazil's contribution to the US beef market has seen a significant increase, going from 6% to 16% of total beef imports. The USDA reports a 91% rise in the volume of Brazilian beef imported, reaching 129,000 tons, which is a 57% annual increase. Despite this growth in exports, US consumer confidence dipped in October due to inflation concerns, with the Conference Board's consumer confidence index dropping to 102.5 from 107.8 in September.
