Germany: The working group for recommending varieties of the association for the promotion of malting barley in Bavaria decides on the cultivation recommendation for winter malting barley in 2023/24

The varieties were recommended for cultivation KWS Somerset (discharge) and KWS Donau, both from KWS Lochow. The agronomic advantage of the KWS Donau with the same processing and brewing quality can be seen from the multi-year data from the Bavarian state variety trials on which the decision of the variety committee is based. The variety committee therefore decided to gradually phase out the KWS Somerset variety in favor of establishing areas for KWS Donau .
