The Export-Oriented Integrated and Controlled Thyme Cultivation (EKÜY) Project in Denizli, Turkey, has successfully concluded its farmer training sessions, focusing on boosting thyme exportation. These educational sessions, supported by the General Directorate of Food and Control of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, took place in Tavas Nikfer, Kale Kayabaşı, Pamukkale Kurtluca, and Buldan Türlübey. Agricultural Engineer Şahin Şentürk outlined the project's objectives and engaged with participants on the current challenges and opportunities within the thyme cultivation sector. A significant part of the discussions was dedicated to addressing the contamination of Pyrrolizidine Alkaloids (PA), a critical issue highlighted by EU countries since July 1, 2022, aiming to ensure the safety and quality of thyme exports.
