According to Xinhua News Agency, in addition to exporting to Nepal this year, Linzhi apples will also be exported to Singapore for the first time.
Tibet Shangcheng Health Industry Co., Ltd. owns over 4,000 mu of apple orchards in Linzhi. On April 10, 2024, the company exported its first batch of Linzhi apples through the Gyirong Port, with a total weight of 23.38 tons and a value of over 190,000 yuan. This marks not only the first export of Linzhi apples but also the first export of locally grown fruit from Tibet. Last year, the company exported 490 tons of Linzhi apples to Nepal, and so far this year, it has exported over 137 tons.
Linzhi is located in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, where abundant sunlight and significant day-night temperature differences create unique sweetness and hardness in highland apples. Company leader Lin Chuanqing explained that local apples of the same size are 15% heavier than those from other regions, with peak season yields reaching 3,000 kilograms per mu. The unique environment results in Linzhi apples with a sugar content of 12% and significantly higher vitamin levels compared to ordinary apples.
