Scientists in Timiryazevka are working on breeding new varieties of forest berries, including cranberries, blueberries, and princesses, in artificial conditions. These domestic varieties have a larger yield and are more profitable to breed than picking wild berries. Artificial cultivation of berries also allows for the use of northern lands that are not suitable for other forms of agriculture and makes harvesting easier with special harvesters that can collect up to six tons of berries per day.
