In September 2022, Nigeria's National Bureau of Statistics reported significant increases in the average prices of staple foods across different regions. The price of tomatoes per kilogram rose by 3.29 percent to N445 from August's price, with the South-South and South-East zones experiencing the highest prices at N711 and N643, respectively. The North-East had the lowest tomato price at N209.
Furthermore, the cost of local rice per kilogram also varied across regions, with the South-South and South-West zones experiencing higher prices at N519 and N514, respectively, compared to the North-West's lowest price of N417. Lastly, the South-East region had the highest average price of brown beans at N790, followed by the South-South at N673, while the North-East recorded the lowest price at N397.
