In Spain, the average selling price for tomatoes reaches record highs

The average price at which all types of tomatoes were sold in 2022, taking into account all categories of ribbed, round, smooth, pear, branch or cherry (Cherry) types, was 0.99 euros per kilo, the highest in the decade, according to data prepared by Hortoinfo from the Prices and Markets Observatory of the Junta de Andalucía. Over the past ten years, from 2013 to 2022, the average price of all types and categories of tomatoes has never reached this figure, Hortoinfo tells us. This is the price paid to the farmer on delivery to the warehouse or marketer, excluding VAT, for any category of tomato. This concept of prices does not include any type of costs attributable to the handling and marketing of the product, nor any commercial commission.
