Experts from the agricultural sector and regional authorities in Turkmenistan have elaborated proposals to reduce cotton acreage by 40,000 hectares in favor of the cultivation of potatoes, vegetables and melons. Previously, 620,000 hectares in Turkmenistan were earmarked for cotton, from which 1,250,000 tons of raw cotton were extracted. And 55,550 hectares were set aside for growing potatoes, vegetables and melons.
