The United Arab Emirates and Egypt have increased their beef purchases from Brazil by 14% and 47% respectively from January to September 2021 compared to the same period in 2020, making them the sixth and fourth largest buyers of Brazilian beef abroad. Despite the discovery of two atypical cases of mad cow disease, leading to embargos by some countries, Brazil saw a 2.84% increase in beef exports volume and a 22% increase in revenue from January to September 2021. September marked a record-breaking month for Brazilian beef exports with a 31% growth in volume and a 79% growth in revenue, reaching 218,500 tonnes and USD 1.1 billion, despite the suspension of purchases by China.
