UK pig meat exports in August decreased by 3% compared to July and 9% year on year, totaling 28,600 tonnes. Despite this, the year-to-date export volume is 8% higher than the same period last year. Processed pig meat and bacon have seen the largest increase in export volumes, with a 30% rise compared to August 2021. Fresh/frozen pork is still the largest product category for exports, holding a 53% market share. However, offal exports have seen the most significant growth in cumulative volume terms, increasing by 9% to 95,800 tonnes. Shipments to China have continued to decrease due to ASF, but the EU has absorbed most of the lost trade, with 115,600 tonnes of UK pig meat exported to the continent so far this year.
