Ukraine has the potential to produce around 70-80 thousand tons of mariculture products per year, including 20-25 thousand tons of fish and 40-60 thousand tons of invertebrates and algae, according to scientists. This is possible with the use of marine aquatic biological resources and modern biotechnologies, supported by state investments. The State Fisheries Agency is preparing the legislative basis for the development of aquaculture and mariculture, even during war times. The leasing of part of the water area of the inland sea through electronic auctions will provide opportunities for small and medium-sized businesses, sustainable development of coastal regions, and increase the productivity of ecosystems.
