Ukraine sharply increased the import of potatoes, and prices decreased.

In the first 10 months of the current year, Ukraine imported 123.14 thousand tons of potatoes, which is 5.1 times more than in the same period last year. This is stated in a report by the State Customs Service, as reported by UNIAN. The cost of potatoes this year was lower, so in monetary terms, the import increased by 4.8 times to 66.09 million dollars compared to 13.69 million dollars last year. The main suppliers of the vegetable became neighboring Poland (36.9% of the value of supplies), Egypt (13.7%), and the Netherlands (11.6%). Potato exports during this period, accordingly, decreased slightly to 2.14 thousand tons (-13.4%), but at the same time increased in monetary terms to 521 thousand dollars (+2.4%). The most active buyers of Ukrainian potatoes were suppliers from Moldova (58.5%), Azerbaijan (38.6%), and – with a large gap – Singapore (0.6%).
