In 2020, Ukraine achieved a significant growth in its fresh nutmeg pumpkin (butternut squash) exports, setting a new record with a 76% increase to nearly 2 thousand tons, generating revenue of 783.6 thousand US dollars, largely from exports to the UK. Despite Brexit, Ukrainian pumpkin supplies to the UK increased by 20%, reaching 972 tons, and the country's total imports exceeded 70 thousand tons. Ukraine also increased its pumpkin exports to Romania, Moldova, Bulgaria, and the UAE, indicating potential for market expansion. The growth in pumpkin exports is part of a larger trend of increasing exports of various fruits and vegetables from Ukraine, with the FAO and the EBRD playing a role in this expansion.
