A move is underway to revise the growth trajectory standardization model for finishing pigs, the first since 2012, in response to significant changes in the industry, including increased delivery weights and feed intake variations. Initiated by Kasper Bekker of Saldo Advies Varkenshouderij and supported by Agroconnect, which manages sector agreements, the revision aims to include genetics diversity and feed intake as variables, providing more accurate information and benchmarking values for fattening pig farmers. Anticipated to be delivered by the end of the year, the new standards will be integrated into the management programs of animal feed companies, accounting firms, and business consultants, affecting fattening pig farmers in 2022.
