The UK government has allocated £460,000 to support a unique export project focusing on baru and Brazil nuts, benefiting around 7,000 small producers in the Amazon and the Cerrado. This funding aims to enhance the producers' capacity in management, market access, logistics, and community credit. By March 2022, at least 60 community businesses are expected to benefit from this initiative, which is being implemented in partnership with Palladium and the Sustainable Connection Institute (Conexsus). This project highlights the UK's commitment to valuing the natural capital of the Amazon and the Cerrado and to promoting products free from illegal deforestation.
