Colombia's livestock and bovine meat sector had a successful year in 2020, with over 29,000 tons of meat and offal exported and over 234,000 live animals sent, generating over $230 million. This is a significant increase compared to the previous years, with the country certifying as a country free of foot-and-mouth disease and expanding its export markets from 8 to 15 countries. Russia, Lebanon, and Jordan were the leading buyers of meat, while Iraq, Egypt, Jordan, and Lebanon were the main recipients of live cattle. The sector aims to double its exports and reach $500 million by 2022.
