Producers in 9 de Julio have been battered by floods for 10 months now. Most of the rural roads remain underwater and they have not been able to remove the previous harvest or plant the next one. Therefore, after living in inhumane conditions throughout this year, they know that they will also have a difficult 2026 economically. Far from seeking ways to reverse this grim diagnosis, the Municipality of 9 de Julio is only adding fuel to the fire, as it is proposing an increase of no less than 50% in the Road Maintenance Fee to be charged to producers next year. With this increase, which is even above inflation, it does nothing but tighten the noose around the neck of the productive sector.
