In the first half of 2020, Ukraine experienced a significant surge in the import of fruits, berries, and nuts, with a 23% increase in value and 12% increase in volume compared to the same period last year. The total import value reached $ 333 million, with citrus fruits and bananas making up 39% and 29% of the imports, respectively. This increase is attributed to the high consumer demand for these fruits, longer shelf life, and higher prices of local fruits due to unfavorable weather conditions. Additionally, the import of other exotic fruits like dates, figs, pineapple, avocado, mango, and mangosteen also saw a rise, with coconuts and cashews showing the highest growth. This trend reflects the growing preference among Ukrainians for a healthy lifestyle and diverse fruit consumption.
