US live cattle futures rose, reaching prices nearly eight years high earlier in the week due to low animal weights. Hog futures remained steady amid uncertainty about pork demand. CME benchmark April live cattle futures gained slightly to 163.95 cents per pound, while February live cattle gained 0.375 cent to 161.2 cents. March feeder cattle futures dipped slightly to 186.4 cents per pound. April hogs were unchanged at 83.325 cents per pound, and June hogs also remained steady at 101.65 cents. Beef prices remained strong, with select cuts rising to $254.29 per cwt and choice cuts increasing to $269.66.
