Pork exports from the United States ended 2022 with remarkable growth, setting volume and value records in Mexico and Central America, despite increased competition. The exports to Mexico saw a 13% increase in December, making it the third highest on record for export value. Overall, U.S. pork exports reached a record high of 959,701 mt, up 10% from the previous year, with a export value of $2.03 billion, surpassing $2 billion for the first time. The Dominican Republic also contributed to the growth, setting records in both volume and value of U.S. pork imports. Additionally, exports to China/Hong Kong saw a significant increase in the second half of 2022, with a notable growth in pork muscle cut exports. U.S. pork variety meat exports also saw record highs in export value, totaling 530,290 mt and valued at $1.27 billion, with China/Hong Kong setting records for both volume and value of U.S. pork variety meat imports.
