VASEP: Vietnamese shrimp export businesses should draw experience from Ecuadorian export trade

In the first nine months of 2025, Ecuador exported 1.038 million tons of shrimp, with an export value exceeding 5.5 billion USD. This represents a year-on-year growth of 14% in quantity and 23% in value. Although China remains the largest single market for Ecuadorian shrimp products, accounting for nearly half of total exports, this proportion is gradually decreasing. At the same time, Ecuador is increasing its exports of processed shrimp products to the EU, the US, and Japan. Kim Thu noted that the growth rate of Ecuador's shrimp export value has exceeded the growth rate of export volume, indicating that Ecuador has successfully transformed from focusing solely on export volume to prioritizing the development of high-quality, large-sized, and traceable products.
