GB deadweight prime cattle prices increased in the week ending 14 December, with steer and heifer categories averaging 547p/kg and 541p/kg respectively. Cow prices also increased, reaching 368p/kg. Estimated slaughter of prime cattle fell slightly, while cow slaughter grew slightly. Sheep prices remained stable, with the GB deadweight new season SQQ averaging 690p/kg. Clean sheep slaughter numbers increased, despite being 11% lower year-on-year due to robust demand for meated lambs and strong European lamb prices.
