The Secretariat of Welfare, through the Undersecretary of Productive Inclusion and Rural Development, reported on the follow-up of the national coordination strategy to contain the Cattle Screwworm Fly (CSF), which articulates the Sembrando Vida program. This action involved the National Service of Health, Safety and Food Quality (SENASICA), the state governments, and the technical and scientific knowledge of experts on the subject. Actions in numbers To date, more than 574 thousand handmade traps have been installed and more than 11.6 million flies have been captured, including the species Cochliomyia hominivorax, whose larvae are known as the cattle screwworm. Therefore, controlling the reproductive cycle of the fly is essential to contain this pest. In addition, more than 2 thousand animals have been inspected and 1,863 wounds in farm and companion animals have been treated.
