Specialists of the district (interdistrict) departments of the Rosselkhozcenter branch in the Volgograd region are conducting a phytoexamination of the seed material of winter crops (wheat, rye, triticale) for the 2023 harvest. According to the results of phytoanalysis, out of 84.575 thousand tons of seeds tested at the moment, 80.023 thousand tons or 95% are infected with diseases to varying degrees. The main pathogens on seeds are: Fusarium, Helminthosporium, Alternaria, Bacteriosis, mold. Helminthosporium and fusarium cause the development of root rot, which reduces the germination of seeds and affects the root system at the stage of its formation, which leads to thinning of crops. On such plants, fewer productive stems are formed. The pathogen is on the surface of the seed. Bacterioses cause rotting of seeds in the soil, especially in wet weather.
