Mato Grosso is once again leading in soybean production in Brazil, with an estimated production of 44.3 million tons in the 2022/23 harvest, which accounts for about 30% of Brazil's total production. This would make Mato Grosso the third-largest producer globally, behind the United States and Argentina. The increase in production is due to higher productivity per hectare and an expansion in planted area, with projections showing that soybean planting in Mato Grosso could reach 16.5 million hectares by 2032. The state government has supported agricultural growth through research, promotion of grain storage, and infrastructure investments, contributing to the expansion in soybean production.
