A Scottish Government working group has released a report outlining strategies to enhance the langoustine (Nephrops) industry. The report emphasizes the sector's importance, with a value of £100 million in exports in 2019, but also addresses challenges like Brexit's impact on the EU market. The report's seven strategies aim to improve the supply chain, including recovering and developing new markets, enhancing efficiency, environmental sustainability, product quality, encouraging investment, and increasing supply chain information. The Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs and the Islands will now consider the recommendations, and the working group, which included representatives from the seafood industry and the Scottish Government, was established to support the sector during the COVID-19 pandemic.
