World olive oil production will fall by 20% this season, according to the IOC

World olive oil production will fall 19.7% in the 2022-2023 campaign and will stand at 2.73 million tons, according to estimates released by the International Olive Oil Council (IOC). The head of the Department of Economic and IOC Statistician, Juan Luis Vicente, has presented the data during a conference organized within the framework of the promotional activities of the World Olive Oil Congress to be held in 2024. According to his forecasts, the production of olive oil in the Union European Union will decrease 33.8% compared to the 2021-2022 campaign, while -by country- the decrease will be 47.7% in Spain, 50.9% in Greece, 39.4% in Portugal and 28 .6% in Italy.
