Chicken farmers in Indonesia have revealed that the price of day-old chicken (DOC) and grandparent stock (or GPS) in the country is the most expensive in the world due to government regulations on import quotas. The policy, implemented in 2018, has caused the price of GPS to skyrocket from IDR 30,000 to IDR 80,000. Farmers are burdened by the high prices of input materials and are calling on the government to take the issue seriously and provide better supervision of private companies in the industry.
