A study conducted by a group of Polish scientists has compared the benefits of organically and traditionally grown zucchini, focusing on the advantages of organic farming in terms of environmental impact, crop quality, and food safety. The research involved growing three zucchini varieties for two seasons, using organic and traditional farming practices. The organic system relied on natural fertilizers and crop protection strategies, while the traditional system used mineral fertilizers and synthetic plant protection products. The results showed that organically grown zucchini had higher yields, as well as greater solids, carotenoids, and chlorophyll contents. This study highlights the potential of organic farming to reduce chemical pesticide exposure, increase consumption of health-promoting compounds, and improve the quality and safety of produce, particularly in the context of the growing organic produce market.
