Peru exported 18,719 tons of fresh garlic for $32 million in 2023

The year 2023 ended in a promising way for fresh Peruvian garlic. This product found its way to more than 17 different countries, exported by nearly 60 companies, totaling 18,719 tons worth $32 million. These figures represented growth of 13% in volume and 34% in value, according to FreshFruit. These positive results in terms of the value obtained reflect a significant increase in the price of fresh garlic worldwide. Peruvian garlic reached a price of $1.69 per kilogram, 19% higher than in 2022. The main destinations for Peruvian garlic were the United States, Mexico and Ecuador, which together represented 87% of the total exported.
