In W30 in the oats landscape, the global grain harvest for the 2023/24 season is expected to reach a record 2.29 billion metric tons (mt), which represents a month-on-month (MoM) increase of 5 million metric tons (mmt) and a year-on-year (YoY) increase of 38 mmt. However, the supply of wheat, barley, and oats will slightly decrease, with oats projection expected to drop by 3 mmt.

In Ukraine, community farms in Sumy Oblast have cultivated 42,779.3 hectares (ha) of agricultural crops, including oats on 383.0 ha. Meanwhile, in Russia, most grain crops' areas have increased in the current sowing campaign, including oats sown on 2.22 million ha, a 2.2% increase compared to the previous campaign. Additionally, the farms of Karachay-Cherkessia have started harvesting grain crops, including oats sown on 650 ha.

In Almería, Spain, cereal producers are facing a severe 90% drop in the harvest due to drought, with only 240 mm of cumulative rainfall since September, making it the worst season in 40 years. The province has dedicated 29,800 ha to producing cereals, with oats covering 3,424 hectares. On the contrary, the recent rains across South Africa have been favorable for the 2023/24 winter crops. The crops are mostly in good condition in the Western Cape, a province that accounts for over two-thirds of the winter wheat, barley, canola, and oats plantings.

In southern Brazil, the El Niño phenomenon favored summer crops (such as soybeans, corn, beans, pastures, etc.) and harmed winter crops (such as wheat, barley, oats, triticale, and canola). Lastly, in Poland, oats and spring mixtures struggle to achieve good yields, and the low oat prices are causing farmers to consider keeping them for fodder purposes. Currently, the price range for purchasing oats is around USD 135.24/mt to USD 152.45/mt at most.
