In W35 in the peanut landscape, the Northern Hemisphere peanut harvest is about to start, but adverse weather conditions have raised concerns for peanut production in India and China. India's Kharif peanut crop has been affected by dry conditions caused by the El Niño weather phenomenon, while floods in China's northeastern provinces may impact peanut production. Meanwhile, Brazilian peanut prices have softened to enhance competitiveness in the export market. The overall peanut market is closely monitoring these developments.

Senegal's peanut production for the 2022/23 season saw a notable decline of 10.5% compared to the previous year, totaling just over 1.5 million metric tons (mmt). The harvest has significantly impacted the peanut season, with transaction volumes dropping by 60.2% to slightly over 310 thousand metric tons (mt) compared to the 2021/22 season. Additionally, peanut exports decreased by 53.5% to less than 240 thousand mt, oil mill collections were down by 86.7% to more than 20 thousand mt, and peanut seed quantities decreased by 32.1% to just over 70 thousand mt.

Lastly, in the United States (US), extreme heat and dry conditions have taken a toll on peanut and cotton crops, leading to a production drop in the current year. Local agriculture experts in Mississippi attribute this decline to record-breaking temperatures and limited rainfall. The adverse weather conditions have hindered crop growth, with some cotton and peanut plants ceasing to produce. The high fuel costs have further limited irrigation efforts, impacting approximately 85% of peanut farming in the Pine Belt region, Southeast Mississippi.
