In W38 in the cherry landscape, the Chilean Fruit Exporters Association (ASOEX) officially launched the 2023/24 cherry season in Chile, expressing optimism about the future of Chilean cherry exports to China. ASOEX expects Chilean cherry exports to reach a record 90 to 100 million boxes in 2023/24, a remarkable increase from the 2022/23 volume of 83 million boxes. The ASOEX committee underscored the importance of improving cherry quality, especially for the Chinese market. Various plans were discussed for comprehensive promotional campaigns in different Chinese cities to stimulate demand and increase consumption. ASOEX aims to deepen the presence of Chilean cherries in existing markets like China and the United States (US) while exploring new markets to support the industry's growth. ASOEX also plans to increase promotional resources by 13% for the 2023/24 season, aimed at attracting new consumers to the cherry category and encouraging existing consumers to buy more frequently and in large quantities.

Lastly, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) expects Russian cherry imports from Turkey to reach 75 thousand metric tons (mt) in 2023. Currently, Russia is the world’s second-largest cherry importer, just behind China.
