W38: Salmon Update

In W38 in the salmon landscape, according to the Nasdaq Salmon Index, Norwegian salmon prices have increased by 2.63% week-on-week (WoW), reaching USD 6.89 per kilogram (NOK 73.85/kg). The country exported 25.4 thousand metric tons (mt) of salmon in W37, an increase from 25.8 thousand mt year-over-year (YoY).

In Jul-23, Chilean salmon in the Los Lagos region experienced an 8.8% year-over-year (YoY) increase in total exports, reaching USD 539.9 million. The top destination for Chilean salmon was the United States (US), accounting for 45.4% of the country’s exports at USD 184.4 million. China followed with 10.5%, while Japan and Brazil experienced growth of 26.3% and 32.4%, respectively.

Lastly, the Russian Pacific wild salmon harvest season is almost done, and it yielded the second-largest harvest ever. As of September 18, Russia's wild salmon harvest in the Far East was 590 thousand mt. This amount is 2.3 times more than last year and exceeds the original salmon season prediction by 15.4%.
