In W42 in the oats landscape, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has reduced its global cereal production forecast for the 2023/24 season by 5.9 million metric tons (mmt) to 2.27 billion metric tons (mt), with oat production also lowered by 120 thousand mt to 20.4 mmt.

In Khakassia, Russia, the ongoing harvesting campaign is now 90% complete, with 87.2 thousand hectares (ha) of land already threshed, compared to 74.1 thousand ha in during the same period in 2022. This includes oats harvested from 24.8 thousand ha, up from 20.7 thousand ha in 2022, with 48.3 thousand mt threshed, compared to 31.3 thousand mt in the previous year, yielding 1.94 mt/ha of oats, an improvement from 1.5 mt/ha in 2022.

Meanwhile, in the Oryol region, oats were harvested from 16.2 thousand ha, reaching 100% of the planned area with a total threshed quantity of 53 thousand mt. In the Altai Republic, 33% of the overall gross harvest of 271 thousand mt of oats was examined. Among these oats, 41% were classified as class 4, 22% as class 3, 26.5% as class 2, and over 9% as premium oats.In the first nine months of 2023, the agro-industrial complex of Bashkiria, Russia, provided 379,327 mt of grain and processed products to the domestic Russian market, including 2.07 thousand mt of oats.

Lastly, Kazakhstan remains a significant importer of Siberian grain, exceeding 1 mmt over the last two years. In 2022, a total of 58 different commodities were shipped to Kazakhstan, setting records for 24 items, including wheat, barley, soybeans, wheat bran, lentils, soybean meal, buckwheat, and oats.
