Peruvian Strawberry Export Surged by 7% YoY in Dec-23

On Dec-23, Peru exported 4.6 thousand metric tons (mt) of strawberries. This marked a 7% year-on-year (YoY) increase from the previous 2022 year's 4.3 thousand mt. These exports reached 10 countries, with the United States (US) 49% and Canada 24%, being the primary destinations. Among the exporters, Interglobo Perú SAC and Mebol SAC stood out with 21% and 20% participation, respectively. A total of 33 purchasing companies were involved in the trade.

Spanish Strawberry Season Is in Full Swing, Growing Demand in Netherlands

The Spanish strawberry season is in full swing, spanning from late Dec-23 to early May-24. In the Netherlands, the owner of MG Fruit highlights notable advancements in strawberry production in Spain's Huelva region, emphasizing the development of new varieties to enhance yield, flavor, and appearance. He mentions his pioneering role in importing strawberries from Huelva since the 1980s. To mitigate risks, MG Fruit is imported from various cultivation areas in Huelva. Their assortment includes Calinda strawberries and special heart-shaped packs for Valentine's Day on February 14.
