In W29 in the chicken-egg landscape, in Indonesia, the price of chicken eggs is still on an upward trend in several areas. On July 17, the national average retail price was USD 2.05/kg, despite the previous government setting a reference price of USD 1.80/kg for consumers. In Central Jakarta, the price of eggs increased to USD 2.20/kg from the previous price of USD 2.06/kg. At the end of W29 on July 21, the chicken egg price remained unchanged at USD 2.05/kg.

As of the week of July 12, China's national egg-feed price ratio remained at 2.44, the same as the previous month. The projected future profit of laying hens is estimated at USD 0.92/egg. However, limited terminal demand and high prices have led to suppressed market consumption and cautious purchasing behavior in downstream links. Additionally, the high-temperature weather has started to impact egg production rates of laying hens, making breeding units reluctant to sell at lower prices.

In Brazil, the price of chicken eggs has significantly increased by 22.93% in the last 12 months until June, the highest change recorded of 28.41% since Jul13. This surge is seven times greater than the country's official inflation rate of around 3%. The price increase is mainly attributed to a drop in production caused by high costs, particularly driven by increasing prices of corn and soy bran used as inputs. Packaging and medicine costs have also contributed to the price increase. As a result, many small producers are reducing their egg production. Moreover, the demand for eggs increased as they have become an essential protein source for families, particularly those with low incomes, as meat and chicken prices have also risen in recent years due to various disruptions in the production chain.

In the United Kingdom (UK), egg industry leaders and animal welfare charities are appealing to the UK government to reconsider its decision to exclude eggs from the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). There is a concern that egg products could be imported from countries like Mexico, which heavily relies on battery cages for egg production, posing a risk to British consumers.

Lastly, following an outbreak of Newcastle disease in the Podlaskie Voivodeship, the Ukrainian authorities implemented a ban on imports of hatching eggs, live poultry, and poultry-related products and materials from the entire territory of Poland on July 13, 2023. The outbreak was confirmed in the Białystok poviat on a commercial farm with 43,410 hens for slaughter.
