Wholesale beef prices in Ireland increased from the start of the year but dropped from the end of March to trade 4% lower YoY mid-April. Beef prices moved higher since January as rising input costs and strong demand drove prices up. As wholesale prices for fresh whole beef reached USD 5.20/kg, more farmers brought cattle to the market to be slaughtered, which led to a drop in prices. However, prices in Ireland are set to recover as it is lower than beef prices in the rest of the EU.
