The price of canola seed in Canada has increased by an average of 50% between the fourth week of July 2020 and the second week of July 2021. Prices started to rise significantly since last April and have shown a spike in early May. When prices were particularly high in early May, rainfall indicated to deficit from last month. The rainfall which significantly lower than normal level during the last 3 months (May-July) illustrates why prices during this period also remained volatile even though they tended to rise in July.
