Rice-harvesting activities have started in Uganda with production expected to rise in 2020. The 2020 season is accompanied by the Ugandan government effort to develop a new National Rice Development Strategy for the period 2020-2030. The government has been reviewing the strategy and is, therefore, collecting input from different stakeholders with a view to developing a new strategy document.
Most of the country's Rice is exported to regional markets within Africa such as South Sudan, Rwanda, Zambia and DRC Congo.
