Iran consumes around 120 KMT of cotton per year for textile products manufacturing. Last year the country managed to import 97 KMT of cotton and during the current year, Iran couldn't import the planned volumes due to logistics closures and lockdown caused by the Covid-19 outbreak.
On the other hand, the country expects to produce 260 KMT of cotton during this year and the harvest is said to take place in late September. 80 KMT out of the total production output is expected to go to refined cotton oil production.
