The financial sanctions against Russia create a huge risk of retaliation against European products, especially agricultural products, which has declared the president of the FNSEA on February 22, 2022. In 2014, when the European Union imposed sanctions against Russia in response to the annexation of Crimea, agriculture was the first sector targeted by the Russian President. The Russian food embargo had then affected mainly dairy products. The dairy sector has never recovered the volumes it lost because Vladimir Putin took advantage of this to recover his food sovereignty. Farmers also fear another sharp increase in the price of fertilizer, which has already risen by 90% in one year.
