Increased Emphasis on Wheat and Red Lentil Planting and a Decrease in Barley Cultivation in Southeastern Anatolia, Turkey, in 2024

In the Southeastern Anatolia region of Turkey, there is an expected 2% year-on-year (YoY) increase in bread and durum wheat planting in 2024, accompanied by a corresponding 2% decrease in barley plantings. Notably, there is a shift from the previous year's corn, cotton, and barley cultivation towards a greater emphasis on wheat. Additionally, there is a transition from barley cultivation to a heightened focus on red lentils in the region.
