Lakeland Dairies Group, the second-largest Irish dairy co-operative operating in the United Kingdom and the United States, has decided to raise the co-operative’s milk price for February.

The cooperative will pay its suppliers from the Republic of Ireland 43.5c/l, including lactose bonus and VAT, for milk at 3.6% fat and 3.3% protein. This is 2.5c/l more than it was paid previously. In practice, considering the actual milk parameters, it means that, on average, Lakeland Dairies will pay over 47.19c/l for February milk.

The suppliers from Northern Ireland will get 34.7p/l for standard milk parameters, which is 2p/l more than they were paid before. On average, considering adjustments for constituents and quality and volume bonuses, Lakeland Dairies will pay out over 36.75p/L for February milk in Northern Ireland.

Lakeland Dairies mentioned that dairy markets maintained a positive trend, and this decision comes in the context of the cooperative’s commitment to balance the continuously increasing production costs affecting its suppliers.
